Who is this course for?

This course has been designed for personnel who are required to fill the role of Operations for an incident using AIIMS.


What will you learn?

This course will review the scope, role and responsibilities of the functional area, but most importantly it will look at how to complete key tasks during a shift in the role of Operations Officer.

Working in Operations

Review the role and responsibilities of this functional area, including the chain of command within Operations.

Developing the operations structure

Using sectors, divisions and other operational roles to ensure effective span of control at the incident.

Tasking resources

Identifying and using suitable resources, tracking resources and managing changeovers and demobilisation.

Monitoring progress

Creating a picture of current operations to monitor progress against incident objectives and strategies.

Managing communications

Using communication systems to maintain information flow within the operations structure.

Using staging areas

Establishment, management and use of staging areas at an incident.

Providing operational updates

Situational awareness and preparing situation reports.

Developing strategies and tactics

The role of Operations in developing the plan of action, and other considerations for operational plans.
