Who is this course for?
This course has been designed for personnel who are filling a leadership role at an incident, particularly team leaders of functional areas.
What will you learn?
The course will review the role and responsibilities of being a leader, but most importantly it will look at key skills you will need to succeed during a shift at an incident.
This course will take about 2 hours of your time.

Getting a briefing Using active listening and note taking to understand the situation and confirm the Controller’s intent. |

Creating an effective team Developing a high performing team to work in the incident management environment. |

Giving a briefing Preparing for and delivering an effective briefing in SMEACSQ format. |

Managing work tasks Including shift management, prioritising tasks, giving instructions and monitoring progress. |
|
Performance management Communicating assertively to improve performance, managing fatigue and stress. |
|
Running a debrief Preparing for, running and following up actions resulting from a team debrief. |
|
Maintaining information flow Supporting effective communication and information sharing throughout the incident management structure.
